Nashville Zoo Blood Drive Set For December 21, 2017

Continue in the spirit of giving by joining Nashville Zoo and the American Red Cross for a blood drive on Thursday, Dec. 21 at the Zoo’s Croft Center Gallery from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. All presenting blood donors will receive one free Zoo admission valid through 2018 and one free long-sleeved shirt (while supplies last).

According to the American Red Cross, someone in the United States needs blood every two to three seconds. Blood donors should be 17 or older (16 with a completed parental consent form), weigh at least 110 pounds and be generally healthy. Donors are asked to eat a light meal and drink plenty of fluids before donating. Refreshments will be provided afterward. Blood donors are encouraged to schedule appointments online at using sponsor code NashvilleZoo.

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization, not a government agency, and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission. For more information, please visit
